Dimmed Light
A veteran’s pain and trauma from war and trying to break through the trauma to find new life.
In the shadowed corners of a weary soul,
Where echoes of battles constantly roll,
A heart weighed down by burdens deep,
Carries the scars that refuse to sleep.
Beneath the surface of a stoic face,
Lies a torrent of emotions, hard to trace,
A river of sorrow, a well of pain,
Flowing through veins like a haunting refrain.
In the silence of night, where memories dwell,
Whispers of hate, a relentless swell,
Regrets like ghosts, haunting the mind,
Chains of the past, cruel and unkind.
Amidst the rubble of dreams undone,
Lies the embers of battles won,
A flicker of hope, a dimming light,
Guiding the way through the darkest night.
War and peace, a paradox embraced,
In the veteran's soul, where conflicts are traced,
A quest for self-worth amid the strife,
To forge a new path, to reclaim life.
