VP’s got spirit!
Victoria Park Collegiate Institute’s first Spirit Week of the year took place last week, from October 1st to October 5th. Each day had its own special, unique theme; and students were encouraged to show their school spirit by participating in the event. The week started off with Pajama Day. Instead of scrambling to find that perfect outfit in the morning, lucky VP students headed straight to school without changing into something more suitable for the school day. For greater effect, some students even brought their stuffed animals and carried them around from class to class.
There were definitely some wacky hairstyles on Crazy Hair Tuesday! Colourful dyes, jaw-dropping afros, and un-groomed cowlicks were all present and accounted for.
The school’s diverse student body was shown and celebrated on Cultural Wednesday, where students wore their traditional cultural dress.
Thursday marked the assent of scarlet and gold upon school hallways, during VP Spirit Thursday. Students wore team hoodies, gym uniforms, school merchandise, or simply appropriately-coloured clothing.
Spirit Week ended with a bang on Formal Friday, where students dressed in their best. Suits and beautiful dresses dominated the halls, while outsiders wonder what special occasion merits the formal dress.
