On the 5th of March, FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 4914 competed at the Greater Toronto Central (GTR) Regional at the Mattamy Athletic Center (former Maple Leaf Gardens) along with 41 other teams. Over the course of three days, teams participated in practice rounds, qualification matches, and competed in the playoffs in order to attempt to earn a spot at the St. Louis World Championships.

Teams were eager to show off their robots, and their capabilities. Team 4914 opened with a rough start while ironing out the kinks of the robot, but during the qualification matches, they managed to climb their way to place 12th overall.

On Saturday, the top eight ranked teams formed alliances with other teams, with team 4914 being the eighth seeded alliance along with Team 865, Warp 7, and Team 1285, Theory 6. Team 4914, along with their alliance members, competed with the first and second seeded teams, but were eliminated in the quarter finals.

The media team was also invited to produce a wrap up video that was shown during the award ceremony when Team 1114, Simbotics, Team 610, The Coyotes, and Team 1547, Where’s Waldo, won the tournament. Team 4914 was surprised to walk home with the Team Spirit Award, and have Hanna Zhang win the Dean’s List Finalist Award, qualifying her to go to St. Louis to participate at the Dean’s List Ceremony. The team will be participating at the North Bay Regionals on March 26 to 28, and try to land a spot at the St. Louis World Championships.
